Sinopsis del film

A través de Miguel Mamani, un descendiente de los indios Quilmes, este film documental recorre los vestigios de una cultura originaria diezmada por los españoles y que, pese a todo, deja sus profundas huellas al descubierto.

Mamani recorre los senderos de la antigua ciudad fortificada ahora en ruinas y nos cuenta esta historia a partir de un profundo sentimiento por la cultura de sus ancestros. Él, además de haber leído numerosos textos de historia, condimenta su relato con detalles que provienen de la tradición oral y de sus conocimientos de hombre del lugar. Miguel nació, se crió y aún vive a pocos kilómetros de allí y, desde niño, los recorre cada día caminando.

Enmarcado por la fastuosidad de los Valles Calchaquíes, “Los Quilmes según Miguel Mamani” se ocupa de desentrañar “la otra historia”, desde el lugar de los que casi nunca tienen voz. Desde la palabra de los descendientes de esos ancestrales guerreros que defendieron sus tierras hasta las últimas consecuencias y aún hoy aspiran a que les devuelvan los territorios que tan injustamente les arrebataron.

Short Documentary film "The Quilmes according to Miguel Mamani"

SYNOPSIS:

The film follows Miguel Mamani, a descendant of the Quilmes tribe as he visits the remains of an original culture destroyed by the Spanish but still showing its deep roots. Mamani walks across the paths of the old fortified city -now in ruins- and tells the story of the Quilmes tribe showing a deep concern for the culture of his ancestors.

Besides having read several history books, he enhances his narration with details coming both from oral tradition and from his knowlege of the people from that place. Miguel was born, was raised and still lives not far from there and he walks across the ruins every day since childhood.

Framed by the extraordinary landscape of the "Calchaquies" valleys, The Quilmes according to Miguel Mamani inquires into the "other history" from the position of those that almost never can talk -from the voice of the descendants of those ancient warriors who defended their land until the end and who yet fight for the return of the land that was unjustly snatched.
